The National Summit on AI and Culture in Banff gathered 233 participants from various organizations to explore the implications of AI on Canadian culture. Key highlights included the introduction of Wasgun, an Indigenous-led AI tool aimed at protecting Indigenous people online, and discussions on matriarchal AI models that prioritize community and inclusivity. The summit featured a mix of traditional cultural institutions and new voices, such as YouTube creators, emphasizing the need for grassroots innovation in AI policy.
