Vancouver AI Meetup: March 2026

The March 25 Vancouver AI Community Meetup brought a Squamish Nation welcome, a grounded case for working between AI hype and rejection, a live robot demonstration, a Film Club prompt challenge, and two talks about creative work and time into one public program. Five videos and a Michelle Diamond photo archive preserve the night at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre.

It includes Anthony Joseph’s Squamish Nation welcome, Kris Krüg’s discussion of a middle path between AI hype and outright rejection, Lawrence Okolo’s OpenClaw robot demo, and Mayumi’s Film Club showcase. Lawrence Okolo demonstrated OpenClaw live by teaching a robot to listen in front of the room. The recording documents a specific technical demonstration, with the system, presenter, and task visible for viewers to assess.

Mayumi presented the AI Film Club prompt challenge and the creative work produced through its early rounds. The event draft records a highlight reel from the first three rounds and an invitation to participate in the fourth. The video title describes a creative movement; the public recording is available for viewers who want to see what was shown and how the challenge was framed.

Creative work, time, and AI

Two additional sessions are published without speaker names in the video manifest. One recording is titled We Trained AI on Stolen Work… And I’m More Creative Than Ever. The title places training data and creative practice in direct tension, and the video holds the speaker’s account in their own words.

The other is titled Time is Our Greatest Asset: Indigenous Wisdom for the AI Age. The event overview describes the talk as connecting Indigenous wisdom to the way the AI age treats time as an asset. The video manifest does not name the speaker or add further context.
