The VancouverMacnab
Snow to salt water, then supper.
One day. Seven legs. From the top of Cypress, down the mountain, across the water, and through the city to a shared table at the end. A small group does the whole chain. Everyone else turns up for supper.
This is an idea, not an event. Nothing below is booked, and no date has been set.
Tell us you want inThe route
Snow at the top. A table at the bottom.
The shape is the point. Every leg hands off to the next one, which means every leg needs someone who knows what they are doing. It ends in the Downtown Eastside on purpose, because a fundraiser that finishes at a nice beach is a different kind of event than the one we want to run.
These are concept artwork, not event photography or a confirmed route. The seven cards follow the working sequence. Nothing here is booked.

Why Macnab
Borrowed from a novel, and not quite earned.
A Macnab comes from John Buchan’s 1925 novel John Macnab, and from the one-day challenge The Field built out of it. The original is three feats in a single day, declared to the landowner in advance so there is no quiet way to fail.
Someone in the room pointed out that the original is also three counts of poaching, and nothing on this route is illegal. That is a fair hit. What carries across is the shape: one day, several disciplines, announced beforehand, with no option to stop halfway and say nothing.
Honest state of it
Four things are still open.
We would rather show you the holes than a poster with a fake date on it. Here is exactly where this stands.
The date
Spring 2027 is the working window. The weekend is genuinely not picked, and we would rather say that than invent one.
How the money reaches people
The organization we want this to support has said yes. We are not putting their name on a website until the written agreement covers how they are described and how donations reach them directly. That is their call, not ours.
Whether the water legs are safe enough
A sail and a cold-water swim in early spring need real marine and safety review. If the answer is no, the day changes shape.
Who runs it
A group has formed. Nobody has put their hand up to own delivery, and until someone does this stays an idea rather than a plan.
Get involved
The next thing this needs is people.
Not money yet, and not a date. People who can run a leg, crew a boat, handle safety, or just want to be at the table. If enough of you turn up here, it becomes real. If you do not, it stays a good story Simon tells at supper.
