Vancouver AI Meetup — October 2025
October's Vancouver AI Community Meetup #22 doubled as the first annual AI Film Festival and the Rival Technologies Data Storytelling Hackathon grand finale.
The micro-festival brought rapid AI film experiments from creators pushing storytelling and VFX workflows, alongside industry voices — including Elvis Deane and Bay Raitt — on where AI creative tools are headed. A longer Q&A with animator Luke and VFX artist Tim dug into practical workflows, current limits, and where human craft still does the heavy lifting.
Community-made AI shorts premiered alongside the hackathon results — a night that put a full year of Film Club energy on screen at once.
