PlatoAI turns a 1,000‑response survey on music and AI into a living Socratic dialogue. Instead of charts, you get a conversation between Glaucon (asks the big, naive questions) and Socrates (reasons from evidence) — with clickable citations to real, anonymous responses.
What you’ll see
• The homepage of long‑response questions (pick one or ask your own)
• A dialogue that reasons through the data — not just stats
• Inline cite markers that open the source testimony
• Examples: first artist that pulled you in; format shifts (CDs → streaming); feelings about AI‑made music
• Where this could go: podcast‑style narrative from the same dialogue engine
How it works
• Python + Flask load the CSV and pre‑compute embeddings for open‑text columns
• Retrieval uses cosine similarity across columns for diverse, relevant quotes
• A curated prompt evokes Plato’s dialectic: Glaucon probes; Socrates grounds claims with evidence
• Frontend streams chat bubbles; citation modals reveal persona + full question

Why this matters
Most people aren’t data analysts. PlatoAI lets anyone explore complex surveys through a human‑first conversation — opinion, tension, nuance — grounded in real voices.

ABOUT THE VANCOUVER AI DATA STORYTELLING HACKATHON
This submission is part of the Vancouver AI Data Storytelling Hackathon powered by Rival Technologies—four rounds, $2,500 prizes each—challenging our community to reinvent how we interpret and visualize data. Using custom datasets and AI/ML tools, teams turn raw numbers into interactive, visual, or narrative-driven experiences that make data speak in new ways.
Round 4: “The Soundtrack of Us” asked creators to blend community, open-source maker culture, and real innovation. A little creative chaos for serious data work.
