AI Ethical Futures Lab #5

For July, the lab sets the rest-of-year cadence: a focused working room for people who want practical AI ethics to shape local decisions, not float above them. Bring a civic question, a policy thread, or a lived-experience concern that could use careful hands.

AI Ethical Futures Lab is BC + AI’s civic policy lab for public-interest AI. It is a monthly, laptops-open working room for people who want to move past vague ethics talk and do practical civic work together.

Each session starts with a plain-language prompt, then moves into structured discussion, shared notes, small groups, and human-edited synthesis. We look at how AI affects work, creativity, privacy, education, knowledge integrity, sovereignty, environmental cost, and everyday life in BC.

This is for builders, artists, educators, researchers, workers, students, policy-adjacent people, and community members living with AI’s impacts. No philosophy degree or technical background is required. Bring curiosity, care, and a willingness to hold more than one truth at once.
