Brad Necyk is a visual artist, AI filmmaker, and writer whose work explores mental illness, psychedelics, consciousness, and flourishing through cutting-edge AI video and 3D animation. He completed a research-creation PhD in Psychiatry at the University of Alberta, winning the Governor General’s Gold Medal, and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at York University with VISTA and Cinema & Media Arts.
Brad is the CEO of A Position on Retreat, an artist residency in Lake Cowichan, and is also co-founding the Intelligent Media Lab with Pravin Pillay—an educational, research, and creation media lab. He is the co-founder/executive director of the Psychedelic Puppet Show Non-Profit.
He previously served as a Research Associate in Film & Digital Media at UC Santa Cruz and teaches digital media and visual art at the University of Alberta and the University of Victoria. His debut poetry collection, ALL SKY, MIRROR OCEAN, will be published in 2024.
