Recent / upcoming signal
Canonical public page for the community's deeper context.
Upcoming public reading-led session on science and consciousness.
Public context
Mac is the rigorous room: panpsychism, embodiment, free will, IIT, quantum consciousness, p-zombies, blind spots, synthetic minds, and the ethics of uncertain consciousness.
AI has made philosophy operational. Whether a system understands, experiences, or deserves moral consideration now changes how people build and govern technology.
The public page uses public landing/event material. Provisional attendee comments, private reading threads, and Chatham House discussions are not quoted.
Story so far
Mind, AI, and Consciousness (Mac) is where BC + AI does the hard thinking. It grew from organic Vancouver AI conversations into a focused room for consciousness, artificial intelligence, and what moral attention might require.
The sessions are rigorous without becoming closed. People arrive with readings, lived experience, technical backgrounds, contemplative practice, and a willingness to leave with better questions.
The work matters because AI has made philosophy operational. What consciousness is, whether synthetic systems can have minds, and how we treat uncertain forms of intelligence are no longer abstract questions.
